Pine Plains Tree Planting Project
With a mission to rehabilitate vital habitat for the endangered Pink Cockatoo, our team collaborated with Wilder Western Victoria and Parks Victoria to plant 6,500 trees in Pine Plains, North West Victoria.
What we did
Over four days in Winter, we worked to ensure optimal plant survival. Our focus was on planting Allocasuarina luehmanni (Bull Oak) in the lowlands, a tall evergreen tree native to the region's semi-arid environment. Bull Oak trees are particularly crucial for Pink Cockatoos, as these birds rely on mature, hollow-bearing trees like the Bull Oak for nesting and breeding.
By revegetating these native forests, we’re helping to secure the future of this remarkable species.
